PM is dead, long live PM
The specific ways that “Product Management” is being practiced are under scrutiny - and I’d say, justifiably so.
Yet the principles & the why behind “product management” remain intact. And perhaps even more valuable in the coming age of tech. However they will be practiced very differently in the future.
Ex - won’t need to be a PM to product manage - products will need more nurturing, training, co-development than “management” - tactical execution will become more commoditized, accessible - “influence without authority” will apply to both humans & agents - etc
To understand the difference between the principle and the practice - you need to go deeper. Go beyond the tasks & responsibilities. Get your PM brain right - that’s where the differentiation and transferability lies.
