The Proximity of the Dead i is High
I didn't think about it much, because as the state of our social media and internet as a whole, is escalating in directions, particularly that one, I thought it was inevitable but is going to take a good amount of time before that happens.
Until 2 days back...
The dead internet theory, is a rather popular conspiracy proposition, in the many-many tiny spheres of the internet. Whether the theory is true right now or not, is another topic along with whether the spheres agree or not. But Meta is pushing ahead to make this into escape velocity.

Meta just said, "Theory will take you only so far."
Instagram has 2.4 Billion monthly active users. We don't now many are bots, but the number is only going to increase, with the wide scale implementation of this move by Meta. This move will only get adapted by other social sites, because who doesn't want more traffic on their site right, even if its bot infested.
AI can be hugely effective in a number of areas, but where I don't want its interference, is in genuine human connection. With the world and its people, as close as they are to each other now, are more apart than they ever were. The internet is a sacred place to me, I have met some amazing people on here, made friends, and learnt most of what I have about the world in its good functioning. I have thought deeply about this, across the few past days, an am not able to come up with any sort of reasonable explanation, of why... Neither technologically, socially or philosophically, that benefits from this in a meaningful way. Yeah, likes on your posts are going to increase, but thats just as good as Instagram pushing likes on your photos, themselves.
Whether the Internet dies is still a far-fetch, but the bot's definitely are going to come into majority over time.
The advent of "No AI was used" is just around the corner.
