reddit kinda sucks
reddit sort of seems like a very big uphill battle for finding "free" users online.
i keep thinking about how every how-to and guide for "doing things that don't scale" to find users online tells you to go to reddit and other forums and talk to users. just read one on reddit.
when you go read these threads though, there's either 0 engagement or people rip the OP apart in downvotes and comments like "this sub has turned into SaaS promotion spam."
and like i get both sides. i'm working on a project right now that i wanna "promote" on reddit, but i don't wanna do the engagement farming thing. and if i had been hanging around those subs for a while and cared about it, i wouldn't want a bunch of low value spam in there either.
so, it's a rock-and-a-hard-place dynamic it seems.
i don't go to those site (reddit/product hunt) to really learn things because i am under the impression that most of the posts are outright or subversive marketing.
outside of X/twitter, this "doing things that don't scale" online is quite unnatural and a mystery to me.
getting to the end of this post, i have a suspicion that this place, Article, might actually be a place to learn from others and also just be able to share your experience and find people who might like to interact with your product.
and maybe that's because it's essentially just Read Only? that could be the ticket.
it's libertarian in a way: here's my thing and what i have to say. if you like it, you are free to engage with it on your own. if not, no worries.
also, if you read this, dear internet voyager, i'd love to connect on X/twitter: @pizzamiheart
