Finding your "ser"
Will AI take my job?
To answer this question we must rethink how we see work.
In Spanish, the verb "to be" splits into two different verbs: "ser" and "estar".
"Ser" is your essence—your permanent identity.
"Estar" is your role—a temporary state or action.
Your job should reflect your "ser", but it is your "estar".
It's temporary.
A chapter in your journey, not the whole book.
When your job is tied to your "ser", the fear of losing it feels like losing a part of yourself.
But if you see your job as your "estar", it is flexible and open to change.
Understanding your "ser"—your intrinsic qualities—will allow you to adapt to new roles, technologies and industries while staying true to yourself.
Ask yourself:
What excites me about my work?
What sparks my curiosity?
What would I do even if I didn't get paid for it?
When you find your "ser" you will realize no machine can replicate it.
You are irreplaceable when you know yourself.
